It’s that time of year – time for wedding mania to begin. It’s that time when couples suddenly realize “We’re getting married this year! There is so much to do! Where do we start?”
Never fear; with January comes wedding show season. The biggest and oldest is the Wedding Party Show. It has been wowing brides for over 35 years with more than 100 merchants, fashion shows, fabulous decor, and everything you need for your perfect day. This year’s show is January 9 and 10, 2016 at Boise Centre on the Grove, downtown Boise. Cost is $8 at the door (cash only). One thousand dollars in gift certificates will be given away to a lucky bride after each fashion show.
If you can’t make that show, two more will follow. Premier Brides’ Wedding Showplace occurs January 16 and 17 at the Clubhouse Event Center on Cole Road near Boise TownCenter Mall. Admission is $7. It is followed by the long-running Nampa wedding show, which has changed its name to the Idaho Wedding Experience. The one day event with 60 vendors occurs Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa. Cost is $7 at the door.
Treasure Valley is not the only place where wedding mania occurs. The Bridal Expo, held in Twin Falls for 21 years, happens January 15 and 16, 2016 at Radio Rondevoo. The Southeast Idaho Bridal Faire occurs in Idaho Falls January 8 and 9, 2016.
With so many shows, most with their own set of vendors, brides frequently tell me they became overwhelmed with information overload. To help alleviate that, don’t try to remember everything.
Instead, pick up brochures and go through them when you have the time to leisurely do so. You may also find it helpful to bring a small notebook to the show so you can jot down information offered by a merchant that may not be found in their brochure. Then, after the show check websites of merchants whose services interest you. If, after learning more about the merchant, you are still interested, give her/him a call and arrange an appointment.
You may want to start by making that first call to a reputable wedding planner. Many offer a free consultation at which time you can discuss your ideas and determine whether the planner is a good fit for you. The planner can discuss the services you need to fit your location and which merchants may be the best fit for your budget and ideas. Most of all, relax, look for decorating ideas and cake styles (be sure to try the cake too) and enjoy the gorgeous fashions and don’t let the stress get to you.
